We were excited when our student moved to East, we quickly learned that it was going to be very different than Burcham Elm. Parents are not welcome and there is very little communication. Experiences are largely based on the teacher your student is assigned. This year there was no parent orientation offered no field trips and all of the "fun" stuff was cancelled due to the teacher's strike. Hoping next year is better, but If it does it will be due to the teachers efforts. not the administrators who seem content doing only what needs to be done to move kids on to the next school.

Not happy with this school at all. As another parent mentioned, the teachers don't seem to really teach but instead give long reading assignments followed by questions at the end of the chapter or handouts. The principal seems decent but the assistant principal should have retired years ago. I've found that neither teachers nor some administrators will listen to parent concerns. Bullying is tolerated. Ridiculous teaching methods are defended. Parent input is not appreciated, and if you express your frustrations to the assistant principal, she will only insult you.

Burcham is a great school! But I don't like the principal or the secretary, they're big phonies and pick and choose who they're nice to. I'm glad this will my Childs last year there. I hope one day they replace the principal!

My children have been going here for 5 years now and we haven't had a single problem. They love it and so do I.
