8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAnybody who tells you this school is great is half correct. They don't, however, tell you the dark side of it. The Harrison County District is pretty good, don't get me wrong. Keep doing your job. WHHS is one of the top choices you would take your child into if you are trying to get them into the Harrison County District. The teachers are nice and sweet (an exceptional amount of them), but there are some that won't even help you because of that one phrase "Well, you should've been paying attention." It doesn't matter if the student was paying attention or not, it is your job to teach these kids, no matter how much they get on your nerves. You signed up for the job, so what's the problem?Another is the racism. Now, this school is not serious about it at all. They tell you they will do something about it, but never do. I get so many complaints from my friends about this school and how they handle racism. It is way too normalized there. They don't recognize their problems, but the minute someone points it out they are so quick to silence them and make them suffer. I have heard multiple people in class laughing or playing around wen we talk about something serious. Nobody does anything, because they are afraid they'll be bashed for it. Even the teachers don't step in. This needs t be fixed IMMEDIATELY.Lastly, slurs. This connects to racism but on a different level. This is also normalized. People say words that are derogatory towards people of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, and sex. It makes people feel like they are below the person and it's the reason why people, like LBTQ+ people, is afraid of being open to their friends or parents today. The students, even teachers, judge people based on the way they look, and although it seems like they help you, you never know what they say behind your back. There is such thing as insecurity, and bringing people down does NOT make it any better. The way this school handles problems is not at all fair. This school is great, but they need to do one thing:RECOGNIZE.Thank you.Student Review2y ago - North Gulfport Middle School

"I am retired and no longer “commute” anywhere. I do wish the city would finish widening Dedeaux Road. There are too many cars for a two-lane road."

"close to everything you need and I-10 for commute to work. lots of traffic, but still fairly quiet. the community came together after Hurricane Zeta and cuts trees and cleared the streets. "

"Dogs are welcome. Most neighbors have a dog. It’s a busy street during the day but very quiet at night. There is a hospital. Darby so the dogs do not really care for the ambulance siren. Great yards. Close to beach. "

"Lots of dogs in the neighborhood and a creek is close by so my dogs always are eating toads 🤦🏻♀️ safe subdivisions to walk through if you're on the main road. On Orage Grove Rd everyone speeds so keep your dog's leashed!"

"We lived in New York and came to visit to relocate, but the people appear unfriendly and not willing to help us find a home. The realtors are never around to show us places and have an attitude if you show up 15 minutes late. Sorry, but we are not from this area and would prefer following said car instead of just arriving at some gas station and have the realtor leave and not bother to follow up and call you back. I mean if, 1:15 p.m. turns to be 1:25 p.m. and the realtor just leaves you there with no homes to visit, I think that is very rude to only allow 5 mins. per 3 homes and then just leaves you up to your own device. I got a very cold feeling the way people from the South treat people from the North. We are friendly people and just want to be treated with respect. What is up with everyone. Are they still fighting the civil war, which we did not create and are not responsible for any wars."
