2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy wife loved going to this school and has so many memories! There is so much opportunity. The school district is in the middle of rebuilding and remodeling the whole school to make it the most up to date in Springfield! Staff and teachers really invest in the kidsParent Review2y ago - Truman Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had 3 kids go to this school, Hard PASS for us. This school gets 7/10 because of attendance, Not because it IS a great school. They don't welcome parent involvement like they claim and they let kids fall behind academically. This is not a title one school so if your kid needs services for ANY reason do NOT go here. They also are not welcoming for advanced students either. Attend an award ceremony. They give a hundreds of awards for attendance and nothing really for grades or achievements. As a parent it leaves a bad taste in you mouth. Like your kid doesn't matter, only their attendance does. The lunch room is ran like a prison, heavens forbid you kid need anything. Also they WANT your kid there for free government breakfast, if you can even really call it that. Milk, fruit and a packaged thing. The variety of nasty is plenty though. Cereal after cereal and packaged yuck. I guess it's better than nothing. My last kid, whom we eventually removed, had started having anxiety attacks before school. So we looked into why, turns out she was getting harassed every morning by adults at a morning intake table of some sort near the entrance inside about why she wasn't on time (meaning for breakfast, because my kid was rarely actually late). They started confronting her and threatening her with comments like, why are you always late?, is there problems at home?, You will loose recess if you don't come on time, You have to be here for breakfast or you are late. In general they made her feel like she was in trouble every morning. When we confronted the office about this they blew it off, and her teacher while sympathetic had no idea it was occurring. This is just one of the many reasons to dislike the school. The did not notice our youngest falling behind and did not care that out middle kid was advanced and bored. Our middle kids teacher (now retired thankfully) when she was in 2nd grade even sent our kid home with a nasty note about how rude and arrogant our daughter was and because when asked if she was bored and thought the class a waste she replied yes. Well anyone who knows anything about advanced kids knows what they get in IQ they loose else where. My daughter lost her filter and like I said, she was in 2nd grade. So of course my kid had a rough year and this same principal did not want to move my kid to another class. I have heard this principal retired but I still would choose to not send kids here. Although I will say Nurse Rhonda And Miss Lisa rockParent Review1y ago - Pleasant View Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids LOVED Pleasant View. The teachers there truly cares and set them up for academic success at Hillcrest. PV is it’s own little community, and it is a privilege to attend this wonderful school!!Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 3905 North Sheedy Avenue.
