7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has been absolutely wonderful since day 1. My two daughters experience here at Bangor Central has been such a positive one! The Teachers Mrs. Bierlein, Ms. Coder, Mrs. Zacharko, & Mrs. Taglauer are the best of the best. Each day this group of teachers go above & beyond to make sure the kids are doing their best, and learning so much. My 5 yr old daughter is reading 40 page books thanks to how wonderful of a teacher Mrs. Zacharko is. I Love this school.Parent Review4y ago - Christa McAuliffe Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe amount of gun threats at this is ridiculous. And the staff does nothing about it. The kids are just being suspended and returning back to school still making threats with weapons. The amount of bullying and vaping that occurs here along with sexual misconduct among students puzzles me while this school and/or principle is still working. There's sexual harassment inside this school. Drugs tobacco and weapons. The kids have free range to wander from school to school seeing how the high schoolers come to the middle school for classes and vice versa. We've had several meetings to assure my kids would be safe and not one staff member can assure that for us as parents. The principle let's the meetings for change feel like a personal attack on her, and then refuses to discuss matters with you. You're kids are not safe here. Kids with disabilities get made fun of. The kids run the school. Not the staff. AVOIDParent Review1mo ago - Bangor West Central School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have been in the school district since 6th grade, and I am so glad I switched. Most of the issues the school has is rooted in student behavior. If you have a child who behaves well, you’ll be fine. Learning:No one likes learning, but the teachers make it as enjoyable as possible. Most of my teachers often play review games with the class. They also make sure to try and adapt to everyone’s learning style. At the beginning of the year there is usually a form teachers decide to give to students asking how they learn best, and any information that they need to know. There are after school programs to help with Math and ELA as well.Teaching:Everyone has a different opinion on how they like the teachers. I’ve found that most people who dislike all of their teachers don’t make an effort to learn. They stay on their phone the whole class, then complain when they don’t have a good grade and usually blame it on the teacher. Teachers do a good job of combatting this. They may ask students to put their phone in the “parking lot,” which keeps it away for class. It does get frustrating how little respect students have for the teachers, but they never belittle students.Social-Emotional Support:The school does an excellent job on giving resources and support to students. Every week we do a Trails lesson, and every month there is a mental health screener. The Trails lesson provides us with techniques to reduce stress, and other topics teens are usually afflicted by. A couple weeks ago, we did one on toxic relationships. Special Education:I don’t have a 504 or an IEP, so I don’t know what the process is like for obtaining one, but I do know that we have help classes for students struggling. Safety:Never had an issue with safety. Visitors have to get a pass and buzz through the main office, and we run the standard drills a lot. After lockdown drills, staff come around and try to open the doors to ensure they are secure.Family Engagement:The school and teachers are always happy to talk to parents. It is really easy to access the teachers because we use Remind, but there is also Skyward and standard Gmail. Overall John Glenn is an excellent school, and I would say the best in the area. All reports of sexual misconduct or bullying are met with an investigation. The staff takes their students very seriously, and I am so grateful I go here.Student Review1y ago - Check out schools near 3477 Barber Rd.

"There are many nice parks and family events to attend throughout the year. A lot of the schools are within walking distance from where you live. A word of caution, a lot of people do NOT leash their dogs in Bay City and there are a lot of dogs allowed to run loose. I do like the fact that cats must be licensed, the same as dogs. It cuts down on the number of stray cats in the city. "
