7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm a student who just graduated from this elementary in 2023. Glad to say, I somewhat left this school with a tear of happiness on my face. I was really touched with the ohana and community here, and am willing to come back again! I graduated from this school with decent grades, meaning I was taught WELL and proficiently. The changing of principals towards the end of my elementary years was difficult for the whole school community but turns out, that the new principal made a huge difference. I definitely recommend this school to your children. The staff here are wonderful, showing a true demonstration and example of what a good school Kahakai Elementary is. Although this school isn't 5/5 on their family engagement, Kahakai will TRY to include families into their children's learning. Teachers often pass out newspapers including ways to help teach your child and support them in their path of learning, but teachers aren't really "caring" if the student will give the newspaper to their parents. Staff just expect and assume students will make their parents learn with them, which is really sad. That's all I'm going to say about this school. "There is a great road for walking dogs but some people don’t tie up their dogs properly . There is a fast highway nearby, so dogs ahould be properly restrained."

"This place is perfect for active people who want a comfortable place to hang their hat, bike, or surf board. The snorkel/surfer beach is just across the street. My favorite restaurant and clothing stores are right up the hill. Great place to live or vacation rent. "

"My good friends lived here for 10 years, they never locked their doors. Almost half the owners live there full time, and they sort of regulate the vacation renters. Most of the owners live there at least half of the time. I am currently the Listor of a property in the area, my friend I used to visit is the owner, so I am really familiar with this almost on the beach, without the road noise neighborhood. "

"People and pets exercise daily along this over 3-mile trail system. There is a sense of community and health here; pedestrians range from first-timers to those who have enjoyed the system since before the sixties. It is at a terrific elevation -- not too cool or too warm -- and is just long enough to really get a thorough work-out. Toddlers take their first steps here and cyclists make the round-trip trek from ocean to Trail and back again -- A pleasant passage for everybody."
