6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is excellent!! My child want here from K-5 and all the teachers know her by first name and will challenge the kids with classwork/homework. The principal at this school, is top notch. He is very involved with the kids and all the kids show him and all teachers respect. All teachers show a lot of focus on reading/math.Parent Review4y ago - Kirk (George V.) Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is amazing. It has after school programs, such as free tutoring, field trips, and a after school bus that brings my kid home. This school got a bit more better than it maybe was a few years ago.Parent Review1y ago - Newark High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth of my kids are current students at NHS. One is in honors classes and the other is in Cambridge Program classes. They are both very active in sports, band, chorus, drama, art and other clubs. The will also be a part of the new Acadamy of Creative Excellence program (ACE) which provides an emphisis on the performing and fine arts programs, which are OUTSTANDING. I am active in all boosters related to their activities. Out of the 3 high schools in the district it is the best school, and my kids love the activities. I have had some issues with lazy or burned out teachers, but all issues were resolved by either myself reaching out to the those teachers, or if no result there, the administration has dealt with it. I will strongly state that it is not a school for the unengaged parent. If I were to provide one main criticism it would be the lack of the ability to provide effective discipline for disruptive students, which takes away teaching time for the rest. I don't think I would send my kids anywhere else if given the option though.Parent Review10y ago - Check out schools near 26 Mackay Ln.

"I have lived here since 2017 and I absolutely love this neighborhood. It's quite, friendly, safe and very child friendly. There is never any crime and you hardly ever hear emergency sirens. Every single neighbor has been wonderful and polite except one. "

"Best place to live in DC. It’s a beautiful neighborhood that is urban but not downtown. It’s all about the park and trail, tons of restaurants, things to do, grocery stores, markets, bar. Has its own metro in easy walking distance and a trail that connect you to the east side of the city. "

"NoMa Bid has been creating a huge sense of community in Eckington and NoMa. For one they keep the area so clean and you always see their workers sweeping the sidewalks, changing trashing, maintenance at the dog park. And then there’s the events, most at the A.T. Park and the MBTrail. Movie in the park, farmers market, holiday events like pumpkin patch/contest, and of course the mural walls festival. The trail and park have beautiful murals everywhere and each year local artist renew most of them. (NoMa in Color). Also the dog parks is a big vibe in the area, Eckington Dog Park is the best in the city, but there are 4 in the area. Also, Bouldering Project is a cool bouldering and fitness gym. Theres tons of grocery, restaurants, bars and beer gardens, etc. it’s surround by Union Market, Brookland, Shaw, H Street… all connect my the MBT (bike/walk trail) and NoMa/Gallaudet Metro Station (subway).
