7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVHS campus is beautiful and the new science, gym, arts building are first class. Students are diverse and seem to get along quite well. Lots of AP classes and programs for students with different interests. And the sports program is amazing…XC, basketball, tennis, football, soccer, baseball. And so many kids are getting into UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD, NYU, etc. VHS is morphing into a powerhouse public school. Best kept secret on the Westside.Parent Review4mo ago - Westminster Avenue Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a wonderful school. The teachers and principal are truly exceptional. Our children have learned so much and love their school. We couldn't be happier!Parent Review1y ago - Mark Twain Middle School and World Languages Magnet

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis has the potential to be a good school but in its current form, it's just not. Most of the kids are here to learn. The problem is there is a good 10-20% of kids who are failing and take up most of the teachers energy. The biggest concern for parents should be this: violent fights on a weekly basis. And this should be cause for alarm: these kids get a 1-2 day suspension and return to school the very next day. If you look ok tiktok you will see pretty intense unprovoked fights right out in the open. The principal Dr Ford, seems unwilling to enforce any serious disciplinary measures or maybe they are just overwhelmed and in denial. They actively keep parents out of the school and I think this is how most parents are ignorant to just how much sketchy stuff goes on at this school. There are great teachers here, super engaged and caring but they have so much work to do to help the failing students. Even the IHP and Languages program have to contend w the kids who are causing fights at recess, lunch and a shared PE. There is a lot of racism directed at kids who are in the minority so that's something you should be aware of as a parent. The AP is great but she definitely toes the line and there is only so much she can do. Dr Ford might be great behind the scenes but she is quite inaccessible to parents and students - except at events. Middle school kids will always act up wherever you go but MT seems to be especially rough. Maybe one day Mark Twain might get their stuff together but right now, it's not quite there if you are a family who cares about a safe environment for your kids.Parent Review3w ago - Check out schools near 700 Main St #7.

"I have lived in Venice all my life. There’s no other place I would rather live. The weather is great, usually 20° cooler than downtown Los Angeles. Many outdoor activities including bike riding, surfing, walking, tennis, paddle tennis, basketball, rollerskating , swimming, And many more. Great walkability to restaurants, shopping, library, farmers market. Dog friendly. "

- Tamikx

"It’s beach vibe and the homeless people make for a unique environment. I don’t usually wander around alone at night but it’s a great area to own a bicycle and bike around to get errands done, shopping, riding along the beach and hitting up the local farmers market. They are gentrifing the neighborhood so there is a lot more that needs to be done but the transition is making for a better city "
- Cbowenusc

"What commute? I do not have a commute, a big driver behind my decision to live in Venice - great vibes all day and quiet at night "

"Honestly, we don't really have anything. Halloween used to be fun out here and houses used to go all out, not anymore. "

"Venice gets more visitors than Disneyland. Parking is hard to find, the closer you are to the beach. Many homes are Airbnb. Love Venice but the prices are extremely high! the homeless population is higher than normal. "
- Sarah G.

"Farmers markets, parks, great places to eat, the beach, jumping jacks, wizards, bean dip, and big hugs at red lights."
- Jonny Jetsons

"Get the kids home from the beach by sunset. There tends to be a larger nighttime population of homeless and transients, in turn a larger number petty crimes being reported by local authorities. just saying, if the kids wanna go out, make sure they are escorted by an older person. "
- Dolph

"It’s a very “bohemian” environment... I’m sure super fun for kids 13-18... I would keep an eye on younger kids as Venice doesn’t always bring the best elements to the beach... all in all, it’s a fun diverse place with people from all over the world and all different social and economic backgrounds and a great place in my opinion."
- Olutunde F.

"Friendly people. Homeless people are here and there but they are not a scare. Great weather. Lots of kids and parks and schools. Cosy, bohemian and artsy. Quiet too"

"Quickly gentrifying neighborhood with accessibility to everything a family needs. Safe for the most part - only a couple of intersections to be aware of."
