3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAgree with the school needing competent leadership. My son has been jumped twice now this school year and I was not called on either occasion. He has been caught skipping school by the police and I have checked his attendance record (which is awful) but I have not been contacted in over six months by the school about his attendance. The school must notify me if I am to enforce standards on the child. I've resorted to a FINS petition. This school should be shut down.Parent Review13y ago - Jacksonville Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you notice the older reviews were written when the school was a neglected part of the Pulaski County School District. The community took full control in 2016. Yes, there were some growing pains. Today, the school matters to the people who are invested in our community. Today, the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District is revitalizing our schools: last year we opened the new high school building, and in 2021 we will open our new middle school and elementary school on the former site of the old high school. Things have drastically changed for the better in the last 4 years. Even through our challenges with COVID-19, teachers, administrators, and our local community have joined together to provide the best opportunities for our students. It has not been easy, but we are seeing progress through the tough times too. I am proud to say, that JMS is transforming into a great school.Other Review3y ago - Bobby G Lester Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDo not send special needs children here. Really, just don't send your kids here. The the paras are pulled from the rooms to watch other classes. This means the teacher is understaffed and incapable of teaching the children properly. This is also a huge safety concern for the children. State law requires they be in the room at all times, and yet they constantly pull them out because they don't have teachers in other classrooms. Clearly even the teachers don't want to work for such a horrible school. The special needs classes are self-contained - meaning your child no matter the grade will never work on their grade level. The special needs teacher asked my autistic child what they needed to work on, then proceeded to get huffy when they refused to answer. She never once used redirection, she constantly student blamed for their lack of attention. Her version of online classes were to teach her on-site kids at the same time and have the online kids stare at the chair she was not sitting in. They couldn't see anything she was doing and yet they were expected to pay attention to her rambling with nothing to hold their attention. I asked multiple times to be allowed to even sit next to my child to ensure they paid attention, and she refused. Every time I tried to help her with techniques that would work for them, she refused. She was constantly late for online classes, she often wouldn't even show up. Schedules are important for SPED kids. She tried to fail my child and demand they return to onsite learning because she was incapable of teaching online. Your child going to this school gets them funding that they will never use to educate your child. You're basically sending them to a daycare where they refuse to tell you of the abuse they commit and then victim blame. Your child will learn NOTHING.If you are looking for a good online school for your special needs child send them to k12 instead. ARVA is a much better option. My child is currently a straight A student. They learn things for their grade level, at a slower pace, and has access to them over the summer. They have tons of school events and they have a lot of opportunities to hang out with kids their age. We even attended a Minecraft coding event this summer where they were praised on their using code to build a bank in-game! Bobby G. Lester does not care about your students. They care about the money they receive for having your child there.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 719 S Redmond Rd #6.
