    Mitt Romney

    Park City, UT

    Most Known For

Accomplished businessman, Politician and GOP nominee who lost the 2012 presidential election to Barack Obama

    Price

    $8,900,000

After his crushing defeat in the 2012 presidential race, GOP nominee Mitt Romney is recovering from the Presidential loss by splaying out some serious money for a gorgeous ski mansion in the Deer Valley resort of Park City, Utah.

He may not be the leader of the free world, but he is now king of this castle, which was most recently listed for $8.9 million.

The property records associated with the sale are vague, but according to Utah’s Park Record, this house on Silver Lake Drive has been linked to the Romneys. The home is registered to a firm called Deer Valley SR, LLC, and Utah state records name Mitt’s wife Ann Romney as the manager of that LLC.

Park City is an obvious choice for another Romney family mansion. A devout Mormon with deep roots in Utah, Romney helped organize the Winter Olympics here in 2002, and from about 1999 to 2009, the family owned another equally lavish ski mansion a stone’s throw from these new digs.

With 5 sons, 5 daughters-in-law and 23 grandchildren, the Romneys need space, which they’ll find in their new 8,730-square-foot ski-in/ski-out mansion. The six-bedroom home, built in 1991 from “whole logs and many local materials” was designed by architect Fred Babcock and the “Utah Rustic” interiors were designed by David Krajeski and were once featured in Architectural Digest.

The Romneys have a substantial real estate portfolio that also includes homes in La Jolla, California, Boston, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

      Price

      $19,995,000

In a housing market that’s going up, up, up, actor Bruce Willis is having a hard time selling his Beverly Hills mansion. Originally listed for $22 million in May 2013, Willis just chopped $2 million off the asking price of his sprawling, gated Beverly Hills hacienda.

Willis slashed the price of the home in hopes that a lower price can get the deal done and he and wife Emma Hemming can fully enjoy East Coast life in their chic condo in New York City.

Property records we peeped show that Willis paid $9 million for the estate way back in June 2004, when he bought the pad from movie industry titan Alan Ladd Jr.

The 1928 Spanish-style residence sits on about an acre acre of flat land in a prime section of lower Beverly Hillsand has 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms spread out over 10,379 square feet of interior space that also includes a state-of-the-art screening room, his & hers bathrooms and two staff rooms. Outside, a large pool, tennis courts and the surrounding areas are an entertainer’s paradise.

As the famed owner of The Comedy Store on LA’s Sunset Strip, Mitzi Shore is known by many in the funny business as the maker and breaker of comedy careers. From the 1970s to the 1990s, Mitzi nurtured the budding starts of many well-known comedians and late night talk show hosts, including David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jim Carrey, Chris Rock, Chelsea Handler, Richard Pryor, and Robin Williams. Oh, and we should also mention that one of her sons is comedian Pauly Shore.

Now, it seems the octogenarian may be looking to cut back. Mitzi’s has already handed off the day-to-day management of her famous comedy club to her sons — which doesn’t seem like it’s all it’s cracked up to be, considering it’s no laughing matter when lawsuits are filed. But maybe she’ll catch a break when it comes to downsizing in real estate?

Our sources tell us that Mitiz has listed her long-time, 5,448-square-foot home in Los Angeles for $5.8 million. This is the first time that the legendary Old Hollywood estate has been on the market since Mitzi bought it 40 years ago.

Built in 1936, this ivy-covered European Villa includes five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and sits on one of the largest flat lots in the area — a rare and desirable asset for homes located in the Hollywood Hills. While loaded with character and charm on the outside, the home will need a lot of TLC on the inside. According to the listing description, this home needs “to be fully restored/rebuilt.”

It’s the perfect place for someone who loves a good remodeling project, AND wants to own a piece of comedy history.

CNET Founder, Halsey Minor, Sings Bankruptcy Sale Blues as LA Estate Hits Market for $14.9 Million

7,479-square-foot Mid-Century mansion with four bedrooms and six bathrooms

          Price

          $14,950,000

To quote the immortal lyrics of The Notorious B.I.G., we’ve got another unfortunate case of “Mo Money, Mo Problems.”

The 1990s and 2000s were good years for Halsey Minor. He founded CNET in 1993, turning it into one of the Internet’s first profitable companies, then sold it to CBS for $1.7 billion in 2008. But by comparison, the last few years haven’t been quite as stellar. Minor was named #1 on the state of California’s list of top 250 delinquent taxpayers in 2012, with unpaid taxes estimated at $10,711,699.29. And in May of this year, he filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Allegedly, the former multi-millionaire owes more than $100 million and only has $50 million on hand to cover his debts.

Now, as a likely part of that filing, Minor’s 7,479-square-foot mansion in Los Angeles has hit the market for $14,950,000 as a bankruptcy sale — that’s about $5 million less than what he purchased it for in 2006.

Located in lower Bel Air, this gated home sits on a cliff with unobstructed, panoramic city and ocean views. The four-bedrooms, six-bathroom home was originally designed by famed Mid-Century architect Richard Dorman and built in 1964 — but move-in ready, it is not. According to the listing, the home has come into disrepair. So if you’re looking for a contemporary estate in a prime location in Los Angeles to fix up, look no further.

Side Note: Minor also owns an 18,000-square-foot, eight-bedroom, seven-bathroom home in San Francisco’s prestigious Presidio Heights neighborhood that’s also currently for sale for a cool $21 million. That home was modeled after Marie Antoinette’s Le Petit Trianon in Versailles — but like his Los Angeles home, it’s also in a pretty bad shape.

One Direction is living large for a week in Los Angeles as the adorable boy band dropped $27,000 for seven nights to rent a lavish pad on the ever popular Mulholland Drive. According to our friends at the Daily Mail, the boys are in town to finish up their North American leg of the tour and to promote their new dolls.

The mansion is secluded and gated, which is good considering all the attention these boys get from their screaming fans, and has floor-to-ceiling glass walls that offers a panaramic view of the LA city lights and majestic mountain ranges. This party house is complete with a pool table and fully stocked wet bar just in case the group decides to invite their groupies over after one of their shows. And, with five bedrooms and eight baths no one will have to share a room in this 11,000 square foot home!

And that’s just the inside! Perfect for the summer nights, the mansion boasts more than more than 2,500 square feet of outdoor party space with a sleek swimming pool and two spas.

Once owned by legendary Hollywood actor and “The King Of Cool,” Steve McQueen, the 500+ acre Pioneer Moon Ranch in Hailey, ID just hit the market for $7.4 million!

At the foot of the Pioneer Mountains, the well-maintained and tastefully improved ranch compound is situated between two branches of the East Fork and designed to maximize privacy and comfort – a must for a Hollywood retreat.

The log home was built in 1990 and features 1,410+ square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Remodeled by the current owners in 2004, the home has a spacious kitchen, living/dining area with large river rock fireplace, and loft area used as a library, as well as a separate 1,731+ sq. ft. “annex” structure that lies next to the home and offers additional living, entertainment and storage space.  The annex blends seamlessly with the residence and features a living room with bar area, dining room, library, bedroom and 1.5 baths.  Both the residence and annex open to a well-manicured lawn complete with fire pit that is tailor made for an outdoor gathering of friends and family.

An idyllic winter home, McQueen’s wife once told The Examiner that “When the snow falls, we don’t lose it for five months.” The future buyer of this ranch better have some serious faux fur at the ready.

Additional secluded building sites exist on the ranch in the event an owner were interested in building a new main residence. Pioneer Moon Ranch lies in the center of one of Sun Valley’s most peaceful, secluded, and least developed areas and represents the largest property currently available for purchase in the upper Wood River Valley.

Creedence Clearwater Revival rocker John Fogerty has ‘unofficially’ listed his massive Beverly Hills estate for $23 million. Marketed at as an off-market listing, Fogerty’s estate is for-sale, but it’s flying under-the-radar by staying off the open market as a pocket listing.

A home this spectacular with that high of a price tag is hard to ignore, and Fogerty hopes qualified buyers will also take notice of his for-sale Tuscan mansion.

Purchased by the “Proud Mary” rocker on November 20, 2002 for $2,900,000, the home at 2553 Summitridge Dr. had 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and 13,476 square feet at the time he bought it. 10 years later, the home has undergone some gorgeous renovations that added an additional 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 2,500 square feet to the residence.

Now, the home sits on 3 meticulously landscaped acres and features a gated entrance and circular motor court with fountain leading to the garage motor court. Inside,  16,000 square feet of living space includes 9 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a 2-story foyer with fireplace, double-barrel vaulted main hallway, formal living room with fireplace, formal dining room with wine room, gourmet kitchen, 2-story family room with fireplace, wood paneled library with fireplace, home theater, 2nd floor lounge with wet bar, 4+ car garage and more.

Outside, the property has an incredible entertainer’s yard with a covered loggia with fireplace, mosaic-tiled swimming pool with spa, expansive patio, children’s playground and outdoor dining and cooking areas. There is also a separate guest house with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, living room and kitchen.

Air Jordan is getting grounded in Illinois, where the sale of his 9 bedroom, 19 bathroom, 27,648 square foot Highland Park home is failing to take flight. The NBA great  listed his Chicago-area home at 2700 Point Drive in February 2012 for $29 million, and later slashed the price by $8 million, to bring it to its current asking price of $21 million…where it’s been lingering for months.

With an indoor basketball court, a 3-bedroom guesthouse, indoor/outdoor entertaining and pool area, outdoor tennis court, putting green, deep-water pond and 3 garages, the home is incredible – but is it worth the price? If Jordan gets his full asking price for the estate, it’d be a historic sale in the state of Illinois. According to MLS data from the past 25 years, only 8 homes have sold for more than $10 million and the last massive sale of this magnitude was in 2006, at the height of the national housing bubble.

Jordan custom built the home in 1995 and lived in it during his illustrious career with the Chicago Bulls. After his divorce from his first wire Juanita, retirement from the NBA and his new career as majority owner and chairman of the Charlotte Bobcats, Jordan has found himself a stunning new $2.8M lakefront estate on Lake Norman in Charlotte, NC. He’s also recently built a 38,000 square-foot estate in Jupiter, FL. With a new wife and a new life in North Carolina and Florida, Jordan’s more than ready to alley-opp this mansion over to a new owner.
