Writer, director and producer, best known for Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice
6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, 8,398 square feet
Mega-successful TV writer and producer Shonda Rhimes, of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal fame, has another hit on her hands: a brand new $8.8 million-dollar compound in Los Angeles’ Hancock Park neighborhood.
Rhimes closed on the 6 bedroom, 6 bathroom, 8,398 square foot compound on February 4, 2014 – a mere 9 months after ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ actress Patricia Heaton sold the place in May 2013 for $8 million.
Heaton decamped to a swank $5.4M pad in Toluca Lake, and the buyers of her former home flipped it back on the market with an asking price of $8.99M in November of the same year!
The Italianate Mediterranean gated estate was designed by the famed architect Elmer Grey, which may hint at why this house is so in-demand! On a nearly 50,000 square foot lot, the massive home has lots of room for Rhimes and her 3 young daughters. Inside, the home not only has 6 bedrooms, but it also includes 2 offices and a great bonus room upstairs – a perfect playroom for the girls!
Downstairs, the home has primo living and dining rooms, a chic library and just a what Shonda needs – a family wing with gourmet kitchen, family room overlooking the pool and lush grounds with a paddle tennis court. The property also has a guest house and a screening room over the 4 car garage!
With all those amenities, we dare you to find something this house doesn’t have!
On this deal, June Ahn of Coldwell Banker represented the sellers and Ed Solorzano of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices was Rhimes’ agent.
A media mogul in the making, Rhimes not only now owns this $8.8 million-dollar home, but she also owns two other properties in Los Angeles! The first is a 6 bed, 9 bath, 8,292 square foot home she paid $5.6M for in March 2010 and the second is a 6 bedroom, 4 bathroom, 4,995 square foot pad she paid $1.66M for in July 2007.
