Eriq La Salle — best known to most of the world as Dr. Peter Benton on the hit TV Show “ER,” just banked some cash money on the sale of his longtime estate in Los Angeles. La Salle bought the Beverly Hills home at 1460 Laurel Way back in 1988, the same year he appeared in the Eddie Murphy movie “Coming to America,” for a mere $1.7 million, and he just closed on a deal to sell it to an unnamed buyer for $6 million.

He had originally asked an ambitious $7,950,000 when listed the home in January 2013. He eventually had to drop the price to $6,495,000 before he eventually snagged a buyer for $6 million even.

According to TMZ and sources close to the deal, Eriq is selling because he wants to downsize and doesn’t need a giant crib anymore.

The Tuscan-style home was entirely overhauled by La Salle in 2006 and has 4 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, 6,000 square feet, incredible 180-degree views, a pool, spa, and full guest house.

Inside, open living spaces feature a copper fireplace, formal dining room, gourmet chef’s eat-in kitchen, temperature controlled wine cellar, weight room, impressive wood paneled office, and floor-to-ceiling retractable walls of glass that create a seamless indoor/outdoor entertainer’s paradise. A Moroccan-inspired master suite takes up the entire top floor and includes a spa-like bathroom and adjacent lounging area. A 400-square-foot, private rooftop deck–with outdoor shower and hot tub–completes this remarkable property.

Creedence Clearwater Revival rocker John Fogerty has ‘unofficially’ listed his massive Beverly Hills estate for $23 million. Marketed at as an off-market listing, Fogerty’s estate is for-sale, but it’s flying under-the-radar by staying off the open market as a pocket listing.

A home this spectacular with that high of a price tag is hard to ignore, and Fogerty hopes qualified buyers will also take notice of his for-sale Tuscan mansion.

Purchased by the “Proud Mary” rocker on November 20, 2002 for $2,900,000, the home at 2553 Summitridge Dr. had 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and 13,476 square feet at the time he bought it. 10 years later, the home has undergone some gorgeous renovations that added an additional 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 2,500 square feet to the residence.

Now, the home sits on 3 meticulously landscaped acres and features a gated entrance and circular motor court with fountain leading to the garage motor court. Inside,  16,000 square feet of living space includes 9 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a 2-story foyer with fireplace, double-barrel vaulted main hallway, formal living room with fireplace, formal dining room with wine room, gourmet kitchen, 2-story family room with fireplace, wood paneled library with fireplace, home theater, 2nd floor lounge with wet bar, 4+ car garage and more.

        Price

        $2,145,355

Pop diva Cher has just purchased a brand new home in the Beverly Hills Post Office area of Los Angeles! Property records show that Cher paid $2,145,355 for the 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 3,089 upgraded two-story home at the end of a private drive. The home officially became hers on July 9, 2013.

Cher has been keeping her real estate agent busy this year. She recently sold her condo at the Sierra Towers in Hollywood for $5.25 million, she’s rumored to have sold her clifftop Malibu trophy estate to Jay-Z and Beyonce for $45 million, and the home she owned in Venice also recently sold for $1.95 million. The Venice home was owned by Cher via a trust, but insiders say her son Elijah Blue Allman lived there. This new purchase is rumored to be Elijah’s new home, but mom Cher is now without centrally-located Los Angeles residence too, so this could very well be the new home the over-the-top diva downsized to.

Whomever will call this place home will be living in a storybook home nestled into a canyon. Private, gated and secure, the home has an eat-in kitchen, a giant master suite with serene canyon views and two fireplaces, soaring wood-beamed ceilings and a large sitting area. The property’s 25,000 square feet of land includes a patio off the living room, side courtyard off the kitchen, enormous private deck off the master bath, beautiful backyard with grassy area, cascading waterfall and meditation space.

Like many homes in Beverly Hills, this home has a celebrity pedigree. It was once owned by “Married With Children” actor Ed O’Neill, who sold it in June 2007 for $1.7 million.

Amy Byer of Keller Williams Beverly Hills represented the seller and Rayni Romito of Hilton & Hyland was Cher’s agent.

When Jeremy Renner isn’t killing bad guys in action movies, he tries his hand at flipping houses. Turns out that the Academy Award-nominated “Hurt Locker” actor has some serious real estate skills. After 6 months on the market, there is now a “Sale Pending” sign hanging on his latest project, an Art Deco-style home in the ritzy Beverly Hills enclave of Holmby Hills.

Dubbed “The Reserve,” Renner’s flip at 107 N Delfern Drive was purchased by the actor and his business partners in 2010 for $7 million. Over the past three years, the home has been rebuilt by architect Philip Vertoch and designed by Renner’s partner Kristoffer Winters.

Renner and his partners were asking $24,950,000 for the high-priced flip. Now under contract, we’ll have to wait and see what the final sales price clocks in at. The yet-to-be-indentified buyer will soon come home to 2 lush and layered acres that house a single story home featuring over 10,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, 5 fireplaces, a cobblestone driveway, pool, spa, home theater, 14′ ceilings and much more.

Glee starlet Naya Rivera has flipped her home in Beverly Hills, making nearly half a million dollars along the way.  She paid $1.475 million for the Beverly Hills Post Office-area home on April 4, 2012 and just told it for $1,930,000. This kind of return isn’t common in every market, but in this celebrity-infested Beverly Hills neighborhood, buyers pay big bucks for the 90210 zip code!

Rivera made her house flip a family affair – she employed her mother Yolanda Rivera as the listing agent on the home.  Nice work, mom!

Rivera’s just-sold home is on a cul-de-sac and has been remodeled and features 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms spread out over 3,300 square feet.  The home includes a formal living area and dining room overlooking the courtyard and pool. The library includes a wet bar with its own kegerator! The master suite includes dual walk-in closets and a built-in sauna and steam room. The backyard includes a completely remodeled salt water pool, jacuzzi and fire pit.

Rivera recently decamped to a 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom, 4,186 square foot East Coast traditional estate in Los Feliz that property records show she purchased on April 15, 2013 for $2,600,000.

Ellen Degeneres and wife Portia de Rossi are keeping their real estate agent busy this summer. The duo just dropped $26 million on a new mansion in Montecito, and today, the real-estate-loving duo are dumping a penthouse apartment in Beverly Hills for $899,000. One peek at the listing photos suggests the penthouse was a home for a family member or personal staff. While lovely, the condo is decidedly different and less fancy than Ellen and Portia’s usual home decor style.

The corner penthouse in the Somerset building has views of  mountains and the trees from a spacious, light-filled unit. An entry gallery with wood floors opens to living room/dining area with fireplace. The kitchen comes complete with an eating area and laundry room. The unit’s 2 bedrooms are both large, with en suite bathrooms.

The building is full service and amenities include: doorman, valet parking, security, gym, pool, spa, sauna and club room. Building dues/HOA will cost you $1,186 a-month.

              Any takers?

Luxe Agent: Drew de la Houssaye

                Southern California

Drew de la Houssaye is a regular commentator on the LA Times Hot Properties webcast and can be found on Twitter @MadCribs where he tweets about celebrity homes, architecture and real estate economics. He is an agent with THE BROKERAGE Real Estate Group Beverly Hills, which specializes in renovating and marketing luxury homes. Their Palm Springs office specializes in mid-century modern architecture and offers vacation rentals through its affiliate, Concierge by THE BROKERAGE.

Drew began his career in real estate over 20 years ago, and he has advised over 550 families and investors on real estate transactions.

He regularly volunteers at homeless charities, enjoys skiing, sailing, travel, working-out, air hockey and hot wings.

Let’s get to know Drew de la Houssaye better:

How did you get your start in real estate?
My first job out of USC’s Marshall School of Business was with a commercial real estate firm that specialized in tenant representation for Fortune 500 clients. Our broker had formed real estate investment partnerships with many the city’s top CEOs, CPAs and real estate attorneys. My job was to administer the day-to-day operations of these partnerships and oversee the office and industrial buildings that they controlled.

What sale or career milestone are you most proud of?
Once my clients got moved-in to their first home, they invited me over to watch the Superbowl. I noticed that they had framed their son’s drawing of “Our Dream House,” and put it in the foyer. Looking outside, I saw his kids playing in the yard — not in the alley behind some apartment building anymore, and I thought, “This is a great job.”

What is your dream home location?

I live in a home in Bel Air with canyon views, but I have a deep affinity for lake front homes. I find homes overlooking large, placid bodies of water to be relaxing and serene…even a little mystical. I love Ashton Kutcher’s contemporary modern home overlooking Lake Hollywood, and I have friends with a home at the north end of Lake Tahoe which has amazing sunrise views of the lake. I could very easily imagine myself in either of these homes.

What kind of car do you drive?

I drive a convertible Jaguar XK8. It’s my second Jag. I’m a big fan of English cars. I love my convertible, but it isn’t practical for taking buyers to showings. So, my next car will be a sedan. I’ve fallen in love with the Jaguar XJL Ultimate which has iPad monitors and a Champagne cooler in the backseat…perfect for chauffeuring clients to showings in Bel Air, Holmby Hills, Beverly Hills or Palm Springs.

                iPhone, Android, or BlackBerry?

I got an iPhone for Christmas a few years ago and reluctantly gave up my TREO. Now, I LOVE IT! It has actually made me more productive.

What site/app do you check first when you wake up?

After I work-out and meditate, I check my Facebook account for inspirational and humorous posts. I like to have a good laugh before I start my day. In the afternoon, I usually go to my Twitter account @MadCribs and tweet about celebrity homes, architecture and major real estate market trends.

What was the last book you read?

Unreal Estate by Michael Gross. I love the history of Los Angeles, and this book chronicles the growth of the city by recounting the stories of a dozen great homes and the people who lived in them. It starts during the Spanish Colonial period and traces the growth of the city though the development of Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills, Westwood and Bel Air; and it exposes the scandals behind the building of these world-class communities.

                Name your favorite guilty pleasure?

I’ve seen every episode of The Kardashians. Please, don’t judge me.

What’s one thing someone would never guess just by looking at you?

I’m a computer nerd. I write in HTML, ASP, JavaScript, VBScript and Visual Basic. I built and manage my own website, DrewDeLaHoussaye.com. I also wrote an application for pre-qualifying mortgage loan applicants. I have a vision of one day writing a single super-application that will help an investor locate, analyze, purchase, finance, remodel, manage and market properties.

Jessica Simpson may want two kids, but she definitely doesn’t want two houses. After buying Ozzy and Sharon Osbournes’ stunning Hidden Hills estate, she’s listed her longtime Beverly Hills home for $7,995,000!

Simpson purchased the 5-bedroom, 6 bathroom, 5,500 square-foot estate on December 16, 2005, right after she announced to the world that she and husband Nick Lachey were divorcing. She originally paid $5,275,000.

Simpson’s, fiance Eric Johnson and baby girl Maxwell have been living as one happy family in the home for the past few years, but now they’re ready to sell the estate off and nest in their new Hidden Hills home.

Built in 1991, the custom home is evocative of the stylish real estate found in the Hamptons and is located in one of the most private, guarded celebrity enclaves. The property is walled and gated, with a stone courtyard that leads to a koi pond.

Inside, high ceilings punctuate the formal living room and dining room. A family-friendly, restaurant-style gourmet kitchen leads to the breakfast room then out to the stone courtyard. The media/family room opens out to the serene, private and secure park-like grounds and swimming pool.

The home also has quite the Hollywood pedigree. Prior to Simpson and her family living here, Paul Hogan, Tom and Kathy Freston, Ellen DeGeneres, and Rick Yorn all called this gorgeous property home.

                      $2,995,000

Quirky actor Breckin Meyer and his soon-to-be-ex-wife, screenwriter Deborah Kaplan, have put their family home in Beverly Hills, CA on the market for $2,995,000, as first reported by The Real Estalker. They purchased the place in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood on September 19, 2003 for $1,875,000.

The sale of this home is likely prompted by the news that Meyer and his wife were going their separate ways after almost 11 years together. Divorce is one of the biggest reasons why people sell their homes, and in Hollywood, it’s no different.

The Meyers’ now for-sale home has a grand entry on first floor that flows into open entertaining rooms with high ceilings, a gracious dining room with wood beamed vaulted ceiling and an elegant living room that opens to a private, serene pool with a vine covered pergola. Aside from the 4 bedrooms and office/den upstairs, the home also has a combo screening/family room, plus one office with its own private entrance. The master has a secluded roof terrace and fabulous walk-in closet with enormous modern redone bathroom.

Aside from all the bells and whistles inside and out, the home also boasts a celebrity pedigree – Joan Collins once owned the property!
