3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis has been a great school and a great experience for my son. Everyone here is welcoming, down to earth, hardworking, humble and have a great sense of community. Despite having a high ratio of ESL learners their test scores are are quite strong, which shows the effort that staff and teachers put into their students. My son has found the curriculum to be too easy and school a little boring. I also think kindergarteners shouldn't have so much homework but I guess they wouldn't have the high grades they do without it. Aside from these minor issues, it has been a good school overall.Parent Review7y ago - Monterey High School

"Great places to walk. However, many people disregard parking laws and leave their vehicles in more than half of the sidewalk attached to their driveway which you can be fined for but apparently the city doesn’t care."

"This is Old Town Monterey. Spaghetti Hill, settled by Italian fishermen whose founding families ply their trade to this day. The Defense Language Institute above. The small downtown below. The original capital of California. Lots of history and events. Big Sur,Pinnacles, etc. This is Steinbeck country. If you can afford it, it’s great."

"My daughter lives with her husband and my ex-wife lives in Sonoma near Morton’s pool. I live in Monterey which is a beautiful area but gets crowded all summer (and much of the rest of the year) with tourists for the many events they offer. When I came out to visit, the older houses and natural areas made me decide to commit to moving out here."

"What is not to love? Friendly neighbors, windy streets excellent for walking, quiet area with little car traffic, forest and bay views and great weather. We love it when a herd of deer amble through our backyard and when the squid fishermen light up the bay at night making a spectacular fluorescent view from the house. Only in Monterey!"
