What Locals Say about Montara

"Montara is a jewel in the rough. It is a quiet and safe place to live. Most enjoyable is the sound of the ocean from my windows. At times, it is so loud it sounds like the waves are coming down the street. Just love that sound."

"We have trails to Montara Mountain right down the street. The beach is fairly dog friendly, compared to others in the area. There is a big dog community here on the coast so your pup will always have a friend to play with."

"More dogs than people, often see chickens crossing the road, neighbors on horses, quiet town of 2000 next to 6M and they don’t bother us."

"We are coming up on our third year in this neighborhood and we love it more and more as time goes on. It is a rural area, but the commute into SF is under an hour. We are surrounded by friendly people who really care about where they live. Kids (and there are lots of them) can freely play outside, the local school is good quality, and the weather is really lovely for a coastal location. I feel totally safe walking around the area though I would not leave a dog outside overnight due to animals coming out of the surrounding hills."

"Lived in Montara for a year. I love this place! I don't know enough about schools around here or about parks and rec. But- this really is a low crime reasonably priced residential are with lots of natural and, as of now, undeveloped areas. Lots of horses in the back of the town. Many very friendly people! Many, many dogs, mostly very well behaved. Lots of wildlife- coyotes, hawks, rabbits, snakes, raccoons - all of the usual suspects, and more. Many restaurants with a few being local. If you're willing to got to HMB or SF, there's any restaurant you can think of. Same thing for shopping. There's a one acre lot minimum requirement in the back of the valley - where the prices a little higher, but there's some great stuff back here! There's something here for almost everyone."
