What Locals Say about Decatur

"I dislike living in Decatur. The only good thing about it so far is that it is cheap to live here, but I do not feel safe when I'm out of the house. I constantly have to worry if my car will be stolen or vandalized while I'm not paying attention. I constantly hear gunshots at night, emergency vehicle sirens, noisy train horns, people getting into loud arguments and fistfights, it seems like it never stops. The air in Decatur reeks like cheap dog food if you're lucky, and like a wastewater treatment plant if you're not."

"plenty of bus stops around, traffic going to work usually isn’t bad, just have to watch for trains that might hold you up."

"Powers Lane neighborhood is special. Big trees and quiet lanes to walk your dog. Lots of green space to enjoy along with mostly older, well kept homes. Close to downtown and a wide diversity of neighbors."
