"I’ve lived in Central Islip for over 20 years. Great library! Great to be near the Ronkonkoma train line!"

"The violence, and gang activity. Let’s not forget the drug dealers, and the prostitution. My car has been broken into a few times. I don’t recommend anyone moving here. "

"I’ve lived here for 4 yrs , there is some good but there is a lot of bad as well ( some sections are very scary ) I like that it’s very central to stores and other towns for restaurants , some houses are well taken care of and others need to be condemned , it would be a great place to live if there were no gangs "

"It’s congested and there are things the town should fix but they don’t like the streets. It has the potential to be a good place to live "

"Its a nice quiet area, great for families with kids. Very pet friendly. Not far from LIRR if you commute to city. Excellent shopping nearby. Close to Great South Bay, if you like fishing and boating. "

"Gang infested area with littered streets and too many forclosed homes. Pets roam free on many blocks. If the economy turns around and more people buy homes it will get better."

"I've been a local home-owner since right before they leveled Carleton Park and tossed out all the druggies in the late `80s. The area was bad then, but I moved in and gave it my best effort. It was worth it! The neighborhood has improved by leaps and bounds. We've got the college campus now, and the Court Complex, the Suffolk Ballpark, and Touro Law School... a new LIRR station... a great volunteer fire department... kids' sports... the Civic Association... an upcoming Historic group... a local police presence... new condos and co-ops... home-owners at Park Row and College Woods and additional mortgage lotteries... close to Irish Lane park and Museum. I sold my first house, bid on a large foreclosure... and won! So dig in your heels and stay put... houses are going for a song in today's market... bring in more friends you'd be proud to have as neighbors! Let's all push back, and retake the neighborhood on the other side of Lowell...!"
