Amarillo, TX still maintains a low unemployment rate.Â While there were nearly 96,000 jobs added around the nation in the month of August it wasnâ€™t enough to get everyone back to work.Â And according to Workforce Solutions in Amarillo, this area continues to have a lower unemployment rate than the national average.
In July, Amarilloâ€™s unemployment rate was at 5.5 while the state of Texas had an unemployment rate of 7.5 and the national unemployment rate was 8.6.Â Simply put, Amarillo has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the entire state of Texas.
Word from Workforce Solutions is that the unemployment rate usually rises during the summer months due to natural business cycles.Â However, Amarilloâ€™s overall economy has done much better than the rest of the nation for years. Â Amarilloâ€™s good economy can be attributed to the areaâ€™s diverse economic resources.
While there is still plenty of unemployment in Amarillo, the signs of improvement are stronger than ever.Â In July 2012, Amarillo employed nearly 3,000 more people than in the same month the year before. Â And while everyone needs a job, Amarillo residents seem to have a better chance of getting one.
