Home Improvements

California Real Estate Magazine recently wrote two articles on Home Improvements...and what you might want to know before you get started.  This is a quick recap.
  • Energy Saving Improvements.  This could include installation of insulation, new duct sealing; and replacing doors, windows, HVAC units, water heaters, or solar panels.  Check with the Federal Housing Administration's website to see if you qualify for a low-cost loan.  You may be eligible for up to $25,000 at rates between 5-7%.  Visit:  http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/documents/huddoc?id=FHAPowerSaverFactSheet.pdf.
  • A recent study shows that more than $125 billiion was spent on home improvement projects during the first quarter of this year!  That is a 9.1 percent increase from first quarter of 2010.  It is predicted home improvement project expenses to hit $132.9 billion in the second quarter.  So, don't feel alone when you undertake a home improvement project.  You probably have a neighbor or two making improvements as well!

Whether you are thinking about making improvements to your home or selling your home and buying one "move in ready", I look forward to talking with you about your situation.
