In honor of the Lone Star State’s only restaurant dine-out week, the Texas Department of Agriculture will host its inaugural Tastes of Texas Food Truck Challenge at 2 p.m. July 20 in Fort Worth.
Food trucks at Cowtown Chow Down Food Park, located at 1100 N. Main Street, will battle it out for the best dish using ingredients grown or produced in Texas. Judges will choose their favorite Texas taste, and free samples from all entries will be available to the public after 2:30 p.m.
Food trucks will feature their Texas-inspired dishes during TDA’s GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Upweek, presented by Farm Credit, July 23-29. The GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up is the only weeklong, statewide dine-out event showcasing restaurants serving locally produced food and wines.
This year, more than 400 participating Round-Up restaurants have pledged to donate to local food banks. Round-Up donations will allow Texas food banks to provide more than 100,000 nutritious meals to help feed hungry Texans. Â
