Lakewood Youth Hall of Fame recognizes student athletes
Dion Wright, Mayfair High basketball standout (left), and Myles V. Smith, cross country star from St. John Bosco High (right), are the Lakewood Youth Hall of Fame Co-Athletes of the Year for 2012. Honoring their accomplishments, and those many other student athletes, was part of the the 32nd annual Hall of Fame banquet held on February 25 at the Centre at Sycamore Plaza.

A ffordable family fun is slithering and crawling its way down to The Centre at Sycamore Plaza. Families are invited to the Friday, March 8 edition of the "Icky Yucky Gross Bug Show" when it arrives to entertain kids of all ages. The Lakewood Sheriff’s Community Safety Center is hosting an evening with personal safety and rape defense expert Pamela Jesse. Lakewood Economic Forecast Luncheon tickets on sale now


The Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lakewood will host the 2013 Economic Forecast Luncheon on Wednesday, February 27, at The Centre at Sycamore Plaza, 5000 Clark Avenue, Lakewood. Registration and networking will begin at 11:30 a.m., and the program will start promptly at noon. The event will conclude by 1:30 p.m.

The cover of the 2013 Spring Recreation Catalog features people from all over the city portraying how they "love Lakewood." It also offers over 600 programs and classes planned for February through mid-June. Signups are going on now.

After-school Activity Zone continues

Lakewood parks that offer after-school activities returned to normal schedules following holiday vacation hours. Fun activities include cooking, crafts, and sports instruction. Students will have a variety of activities to participate in while parents can be assured that their children are properly supervised in a safe and creative environment. Program schedules are available online and can be picked up at Lakewood city hall, all parks and city libraries.
