Broken Arrow, OK Ranked 68 in Top 100

The name might bring to mind a fierce Indian warrior, but today this town, once settled by Creek Indians, is the safest city in Oklahoma. That, plus a quick 20-minute commute to Tulsa, affordable homes, high job growth, good schools, and sprawling parks, has sent Broken Arrow into high-growth mode. The city is doing its part by revitalizing the downtown; besides several new restaurants and retailers, there's now a performing arts center and a historical museum; a new events park is in the works. -- L.M.
