Major lies agents tell on Trulia

My firm handles advertising for a number of the largest and most reputable real estate brokers in Chicagoland. I hate to see my clients lose business to real estate agents who misrepresent their qualifications – and I hate to see buyers and sellers enter into relationships with these people. So, herewith, a way to check some of the claims that agents on this site often lie about.

Agents frequently misrepresent themselves as holding the ABR – Accredited Buyer's Representative - designation. You can, and should, check the validity of this claim.

Ignore any advice you receive from liars. Under no circumstances should you consider contacting them directly for information.

Even more disturbing, individuals claiming to be "real estate professionals" answer questions and invite inquiries without, in fact, holding a valid real estate license. You can check license status in Illinois at this site:

Some agents are licensed as a "real estate salesperson" and others as a "real estate broker." Be sure to check both categories.

Never have any dealings with an unlicensed individual.

Good Morning Joe,

I agree with all you have said! If agents misrepresent the truth they should be penalized for it and reported!! This is the only way to stop them in the future. Any Designations you acheived have to be maintained to keep using them. I advise everyone to check credentials, we all have to make sure that we have chosen the right agent!
Thank you for Keeping it Real!!
