Speed Limit Increase on 495 Beltway Express Lanes

Good news if you ever take the express lanes on the 495 beltway as the speed limit is being raised! The speed limit has been increased from 55 mph to 65 mph. Hopefully, this will alleviate some congestion as we know this is a high traffic area and actually part of the worst traffic area in the county which is the Washington metro region.

For those who don’t use the express lanes, you may consider doing so because the other lanes are remaining at 55 mph as the speed limit. With an EZ-Pass, it may be worth it for the time you save sitting longer and for the gas you will spend by just sitting when using other lanes. If you have three or more passengers, you can actually use the express lanes for free with an EZ-Pass Flex. About half of the drivers that use the beltway don’t have an EZ-Pass to use the express lane so there are possibly a lot less people in those lanes during certain times of the day which is a great incentive to use it. It’s worth checking out if you use 495 because it may be the difference between making it on time and being late.

If your time is valuable and you want a realtor who will never be late for you, I am the guy for you. I can show you places in Arlington, Great Falls, and even Reston. If being close to a metro station is important to lessen your commute, you can search by station right from my site to find houses nearby each station. You’ll find plenty of options near the Ballston, Rosslyn, and Shirlington stations. Call me today to discuss all of your real estate needs.
