Albany Airport announces non-stop service to Fort Myers

ALBANY –  Southwest Airlines will begin non-stop service between Albany and Fort Myers, Florida (Southwest Florida International Airport). The new service will begin on Saturday, March 8, 2014.  Initially the non-stop Albany- Fort Myers flight will operate only on Saturdays.

The Fort Myers flight will leave Albany International Airport at 10:50 a.m. and arrive in Fort Myers at 2:10 p.m. The return flight will leave Fort Myers at 2:30 p.m. and arrive in Albany at 5:30 p.m.

"This direct Albany-Fort Myers flight will provide our travelers with reliable and expedient access to destinations along Florida's Southwest Coast," said Rev. Kenneth Doyle, acting 'chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority. "We are optimistic that the initial nonstop flight will stimulate traveler demand for Albany-Fort Myers service and result in the expansion of service to Southwest Florida."

Tickets for the Albany-Fort Myers Service went on sale today on Southwest Airlines' web site. The lowest Southwest "Wanna Get Away"posted airfare was $169 each way.

Southwest Florida International Airport is located within a short drive to popular vacation destinations and the winter homes of "snowbirds" including Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Marco Island, Naples and Punta Gorda.

Southwest Airlines currently offers non-stop service from Albany to Baltimore, Chicago, Las Vegas, Orlando and Tampa.
