Le Lycée Brings French Flair To Chicago's Lincoln Square

Having a hard time deciding which of Chicago’s fantastic neighborhoods to call home? This piece of [Inside Information] might make you move Lincoln Square to the top of your list.

The Lycée Francais de Chicago, an international school, recently announced its plans to build a new state-of-the-art facility at the corner of Damen and Wilson, replacing the long-shuttered Ravenswood Hospital. The new school, designed by Krueck + Sexton (projects include Spertus Institute and the Crown Fountain on Michigan Ave) will breath new life into the area with an 118,000 sqft, five-story building surrounded by a beautifully landscaped grounds, and the $32 million dollar capital investment in the infrastructure is sure to give a boost to the property values of the surrounding community.

As if ridding the area of the eyesore that has become of Ravenswood Hospital weren’t enough…

The Lycée plans to make its new athletic field available to the community, and area families will have access to its after-school programs in the arts, science, technology, sports, and foreign languages. The Lycée will also offer its summer camps to both non-Lycée children, including language-immersion programs in French, German, Mandarin, and Arabic, as well as filmmaking, sports, robotics, science, and more.
