Marketer Wants You to Forget Everything She Just Said

Louise Sunshine, real estate marketing maven turned development director for the Alexico Group, caused a bit of a firestorm when she dared to tell the truth about a pair of Alexico projects—Tribeca's 56 Leonard Street, and the condoficiation of the Upper East Side's Mark Hotel—in a recent interview with the Who's Who website. Don't recall? On 56 Leonard: "That project is suffering the traumas of being unable to complete construction financing right now. We're two-thirds of the way there right now." On the Mark: "One third of that will be permanent residences and only about one-third of those residences are sold. People are really just not buying in this market...Everything's coming to fruition, but it's a little late in delivery." Apparently the truth hurts (Louise Sunshine's bosses), so click on her photo now on the Who's Who website and you're taken to an "updated" version of the interview. Wouldn't you know it, everything is now hunky-dory!

Here's what Sunshine now has to say about 56 Leonard:56 Leonard is progressing. Quality buildings flourish in any market. Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron are absolutely brilliant architects and the fact that the building is being built on a sculpture by Anish Kapoor really caters to the buyers who appreciate art and design. I have always maintained that buyers appreciate quality; they value design and attention to detail. What matters to buyers in a market like this is location and the credibility of the developer. Buildings with top of the line finishes, in the right location, and built by a credible developer survive challenging markets and appreciate over time. OK! And here's her refreshed take on the Mark:We're opening The Mark Hotel in this spring. The most recent sale at The Mark occurred this January at $4,000 a square foot. The Mark has a European sensibility centered around world-class 5 star services and amenities, lead by Mr. James Sherwin, whose background in providing 5 star service is second to none. Our amenities at The Mark are second to none, they include a restaurant by world renowned chef Jean-George Vongerichten, and a spa by Frederick Fekkai. The Mark is beyond luxury.Hopefully, in the next update to her interview, Louise Sunshine can enlighten us as to what the heck "beyond luxury" means.
