CTA fairs have officially gone up again. Many riders with limited budgets attempt to stockpile as many passes as they could afford. Understandable for those on already type budgets while rents in the city are at an all time high and continuing to climb.
I personally do not take the CTA Bus or El Train on a regular basis; however, if I am going downtown it is the perfect alternative to driving and paying outrageous parking fees. I have notice an overall improve in appearance of El platforms and stations as part of revamping of CTA.
While we have been in dire need of facelifts of El platforms and bus stops, let’s hope that CTA is not squandering the increases and is cutting cost within appropriately. While to some the increase does not seem too much we are among one of the highest rates worldwide. http://www.priceoftravel.com/595/public-transportation-prices-in-80-worldwide-cities/
To keep fairs affordable CTA needs to figure out how to make rider ship more appealing to increase the bottom line by volume, this way maintaining a steady affordable fair for everyone.
