Buying Your First Home? Don't know Where to Start?

Buying a Home as a First Time Home Buyer? Where do you Start?

So I asked my friends on Facebook what they wanted me to talk about and I had someone ask, " How do i get started buying a home?" Well Kara, Here is what i would do to get started.

The biggest misconception about buying houses is that you have to start months and months ahead of time... That Myth is so not true....

Step 1 I would go meet with a lending institution or bank of your choice and get a Pre-Qualification Letter. This letter states, what a bank will lend you based on your current income. I want you to know that that is a loose figure, because they didn't take into account your monthly payments on other things like Credit cards, cars, etc.... But they will tell you yes you have good enough credit that we could make a home loan and give you an idea of what you can borrow.

Step 2  Ok next step on the Home Buying Process is... Find a Local Realtor that you can trust. The reason i say that is, there are some Realtors out there that need a paycheck and will tell you what you want to hear to get that paycheck. So ask friends or relatives and see who they recommend. It is an important part of the buying process, We as Realtors are there to proctect your interest while looking for and purchasing homes.

A Realtor will search the market to find homes in your price range, and will walk you through the process from begining to end...

Step 3  Once your Realtor Finds the house that you love.... (Beware there is no such thing as a perfect house) They will prepare an offer for you, and will submit that to the listing agent and seller.

Step 4 Once you have an accepted offer you will want to Schedule a Home Inspection of the property. (Highly Recommend hiring a professional and licensed home inspector) Your Realtor will contact the bank and title company and start the paper work with them to get you moving forward.

Step 5 Hopefully your inspection and appraisal came back and look good. If not then your realtor will go to bat for your and get things taken care of.

Step 6 Closing day.... It take about 30-45 days to get to this point and most Future Home Owners are nervous at this point. Don't be... You are making a smart decision.

The home buying process is really simple and stress free if you have the right people in your corner helping you. That is why I strive to make each and everyone of my Clients feel like i have given them 100% and so far i have a good record.
