Take The Time to Talk.
I met someone today during my business day. I walked into his office to
introduce myself. I told him that I am a direct private money lender
and commercial loan officer. As expected he gave me the initial third
degree about my business and what I offered. The person I met is the
owner/broker of a real estate firm. Rather than leaving my card and
saying thanks, I stayed for a little while and struck up a conversation.
It turned out that we had an enjoyable talk about a myriad of things.
It was cool.
Yes, we talked about business. And yes, we talked
about money. But it was part of the business of living and enjoying the
experience of talking with someone and making friends that really made
it an enjoyable business experience. Heck, I was already telling him I
would visit his office next week.
What is the point I am trying
to make? Business is all about relationships. You get to know a person
as a person not an entity. At the end of the day, we do business with
each other for three reasons:
1. We like the other person.
2. The other person has what we want and know one else does.
3. THe other person is giving us the best deal.
it is because we like that other person. Take the time to know someone.
See them regularly. You know why? Because very few other people bother
to. When you meet someone, enjoy the experience of knowing them. You do
not have to take their time, but a little converation and caring goes
along way. The more you give the more you receive.
always "there is always one more thing that you can do...and one more
thing after that. 3 strikes and your are not out, there is always
something you can do to influence the outcome of any situation."
