Things to do in Raleigh - Catch a Segway Tour

Earlier this year my husband and I traveled to Miami, Florida for a weekend getaway. While we were there we discovered how fun Segway Tours can be. I never even thought to check to see if there is a Segway Tour in Raleigh. In downtown Raleigh Glide offers serveral Segway Tours including their new Raleigh West Segway touris a narrated glide that's infused with info about Raleigh's fascinating past, present and future.

The tour starts in the core of downtown then makes its way over to west side attractions, crossing train tracks and enjoying some hills.

Here are highlights of the Raleigh West tour:

North Carolina State Capitol: The 19th-century beauty is steeped in history and has been restored to its 1840-1865 appearance.

•Green Square Complex: The sustainable two-block development features the four-story Nature Research Center, a wing of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

•Hillsborough Street: This thoroughfare was one of Raleigh's most prestigious addresses in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

•St. Mary's School: During the Civil War, St. Mary's became a safe haven for Robert E. Lee's daughter and the family of Jefferson Davis.

•Joel Lane Museum House: Built in the 1770s for Joel Lane, this restored landmark is the oldest existing home in Wake County.

•Warehouse District: This up and coming area west of the city's main drag is full of urban hip and is characterized by its massive red brick warehouse buildings.

•Raleigh Amphitheater: The 5,000-seat outdoor venue opened in 2010 and is a popular spot for live entertainment.

The cost is $50 and the Raleigh Segway Schedule can be found at the link provided! Enjoy!
