In the last six months of 2010, Houston saw homes priced in all price ranges over $350,000Â outperformÂ previous months whileÂ sales of homes priced under $350,000 declined compared to the prior year. This trend has continued in the first two months of 2011, but not to the extreme seen in 2010.
During the first two months the number of homes sold priced under $350,000 wasÂ even with the prior year.Â The number of homes sold priced over $350,000 was 10% higher than 2010. The increase was seen in all price ranges over $350,000, but was especially strong in the $750,000 to $1,000,000 range.
Next, I will look at how sales inside Loop 610 compared to the areas further out.
