It’s September, can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday we were ringing in the New Year in Waxhaw, and now we are almost ready to greet 2013! With that thought in mind, fall officially begins on September 22, and on that date we will have 100 days left in the year. That really brings it all home. Doesn’t it?
But even if the calendar says fall isn’t quite here yet in North Carolina, we are enjoying our first week of cooler temperatures. The 4-H club members are getting their entries ready for the Union County Fair and there is just a different feel in the air. So what can we look forward to this fall? That is the wonderful thing about living in the Carolinas. You don’t have to go far to enjoy fall or the activities of the fall harvest.
The apple farmers are bringing in their crops and other types of harvest are either in full swing or not far away. Aw Shucks Farms has something for all ages - An Old Fashioned General Store, Hayride, Pumpkin Patch and Animal Barn. But the crowning feature is the 6-acre Corn Maze. This year it is in commemorating the Girl Scout 100-year anniversary.
If you travel over to Weddington, you can enjoy The Hunter Farm learning stations, hayride, collect milk, gather eggs, and shuck corn, then watch the corn kernels being ground into meal and stirred into a batter for cornbread. Children and adults alike can also learn and discuss how corn and other plants can be made into bio-fuels. My daughter had a blast milking her first cow here a couple of falls ago.
For a really good old pumpkin pick’n time you can head over to Hodges Farm, where you can pick your own pumpkin, enjoy Hayrides, climb Hay Mountain, check out the farm animals, ride a pony, then get lost in the Corn Maze. All on a sunny, fall day. What a way to enjoy the fall air with family and friends!
I may be just a bit biased, but I believe there is no better place to live than in the Charlotte, NC area. To be able to enjoy that crystal Carolina Blue sky, warm sunny days, and the fruits of the land is what I love about our area.
So come to Waxhaw or Weddington, enjoy fall and do a little pumpkin pick’n, you just might find you would like to stay! If you do, come and talk with me because whether you’re thinking of buying, selling or financing real estate, I can help and I’d love to hear from you! … Tiffany Johannes - Help-U-Sell Buy Today – Office Ph: 704-837-0010 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit us on the web at www.CharlotteHomeExperts.com
