decided to move from our two-on-a-lot townhouse to the single-family home we
had purchased, we decided to interview the Hoffman Murphy Team. We had noticed
many of their “for sale” signs in our area that were followed soon after with a
“sold” or “in-escrow” sign.
lived in our home for 19 years and, like many people, had accumulated the
things that life brings you. In our first meeting, Marie and Sue explained how
important it is to price your home correctly, fine-tune our landscaping, and to
have our home “staged”. We were skeptical on a couple of parts. We thought, we
knew what our home was worth, and we aren’t at all sure it was necessary
spending so much money to get our home ready to sell – why not let the buyers
make those changes themselves?
come from a professional background. We both know professionalism when we see
it, and so, we listened.
thing they told us we needed to do was replace the light fixtures, and although
we were planning on replacing the carpet and paint the entire home, this was a
lot of work. Nonetheless, Sue and Marie pitched right in to help, doing
whatever they needed to keep us moving along. Never once saying “That’s not my
job”, Sue and Marie actually picked out the color of paint and carpet, provided
the names’ of trade people to do the work, and even went to Home Depot to pick
out the lighting fixtures. They also brought in a professional stager. She
explained to us that the cost of the staging was much less than a price
reduction would be in the future.
In no time,
the home began to take shape. All of the Hoffman Murphy team members were on
top of each step. With the nicest of nagging, they encouraged us to keep going
on our projects towards the goal of getting the house in order. Opening day
came, and the house was perfect! We priced our lovely home $20,000 below our
original expectations, paid for the entire home to be staged, and yes, darn it,
replaced every light fixture. The garden looked better than ever, and we even
turned the water fountain TOWARD our home, which is a Feng Shei technique,
bringing prosperity to those who are inside.
was a bit tough to spend money on improvements we were never to enjoy, we had
three offers in the first week, and actually did sell our home for
substantially more than the asking price.
attracted a wonderful family that will enjoy this home for years to come. We
cannot thank the Hoffman Murphy Team enough for their integrity, good humor, professionalism
and follow through. In a market that will separate the really great agents from
the mediocre, we know the Hoffman Murphy Team stands head and shoulders above
all the rest.
to all prospective buyers and sellers is to do what I was told by a friend when
he found out Sue and Marie were my agents – “just do what they suggest!”
