Englewood Beach, FL

Englewood Beach is located on Manasota Key, a barrier island that stretches along the coastline of southwest Florida.  It is one of the most populated beaches in the area.  It is open from 9am to 4pm daily.  There are no lifeguards on duty.  The park has a lot of amenities such as a large building with showers and restrooms.  There are boardwalks, pavilions, grills, picnic tables, and showers.  You will also find activities such as basketball hoops, volleyballs nets, a playground, and a horseshoe pit.

There is a fee to park your vehicle.  There are kiosks in the park where you pay and put the sticker on your dashboard. The park is patrolled and you will be ticketed if you don’t pay or go beyond your time.  Get there early if you are going on the weekend during snowbird season, because the parking lot can fill up pretty quickly.

There are plenty of places to eat across the street and in downtown Englewood.  There is a nice souvenir shop just a few steps away as well.  We usually pack a lunch and eat while at the beach.  Be careful of the seagulls and other sea birds, they will swarm around you when eating.

If you are having a family, social, or business event, you can reserve a pavilion for a fee.  There is a minimum rental of four hours to accommodate your event and set-up/clean-up needs.    Reservations are for the pavilion only and do not include exclusive use of the park or other facilities.

My favorite things to do at Englewood Beach are hunt for sharks teeth and seashells and of course walk the shore and soak up the sun.  The shark teeth can be black, brown, or gray and range in a variety of sizes.  You can find them just by walking along the shore or you can use a trowel to dig up a scoop and sift through it.  I have a collection of shark teeth that I keep in a glass vase and when visitors come to our house, I send them home with a baggie full.

Bring your beach gear, your sunscreen, pack a lunch and have a great day!
