About Home Staging.
Many of us enjoy watching the home decorating, flipping, and re-design television programs. And when it comes down to our own homes, we may find ourselves stuck in a rut or at a loss as to where to begin a project.
Home Staging is a concept invented by Barb Schwarz based on the principal of preparing a home for sale to appeal to a broad range of buyers. Barb was a realtor in 1972 when the idea came to her while helping a seller list her home. Being the innovator she is, Barb quickly realized that this seller could Set the Stage. to bring in buyers, knowing that when buyers walk into a potential home they must feel comfortable in its surroundings. They want to be able to picture themselves living in that home. Therefore the concept of Home Stagingâ⢠was born. The seller did sell her home, very quickly and for the full asking price. Barb began Staging all of her listings and quickly became one of Seattle's top Real Estate Agents.
Barb developed her ideas and created industry standards on Home Staging. She even holds the federal trademark on the word Staging as it pertains to Home Staging. Over the years she was asked many times about how staging works which lead her to develop a speaking career and training seminars. She trained thousands of Realtors world wide on the art of Staging and later began teaching anyone who was interested in becoming an Accredited Staging Professional - ASP. Barb continues to stage, engage in public speaking, and teach training courses in addition to running her company StagedHomes.com and the IAHSP Foundation. Her goal is to change one family at a time though the art of Home Staging.
We might think of Home Staging as decorating ones home, however it is actually the un-decorating goal that is in mind. An Accredited Staging Professional (ASP) has been trained in proven concepts that work to showcase the home in order to appeal to the greatest number of buyers. ASPs also work with people who just want help to re-energize their existing space. This is called Staging to LiveÂ. It is beneficial to anyone interested in freshening their surroundings, perhaps to gain a new start or begin a new path. An ASP will bring fresh ideas and new insight to your home and the way you live in your home.
As an ASP I work with my clients to achieve their goals. I have been trained to work in steps, only moving forward to the next as each one is completed. We will work together as a team to complete the process. The end result is always positive!
The intent of Staging is to create good things for good people through the use of good energy working for the good of all concerned. Barb Schwarz, ASPM, IAHSP, AB, RLS, CSP from the book Speaking of Success by Insight Publishing 2007.
