We already discussed the things to think about when looking for a new property in New York City for your grown kids. Here is a companion piece to that article to help choose the best neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
Probably the most popular neighborhood in the Brooklyn market is Williamsburg. It’s the Mecca for hipsters and college graduates looking for a more cultural spot to live in. Although it is a popular neighborhood, and a nice one to live in, the rent is a little steep for someone planning to live alone, unless they have high income. Williamsburg is certainly the crowning jewel when it comes to choosing a new neighborhood in Brooklyn to live in.
Williamsburg may be the more popular neighborhood, but Greenpoint is probably the “almost as cool little brotherâ€. The neighborhood was very well known for its Polish population, but as Williamsburg’s popularity grew, Greenpoint did as well. Additionally, the popular HBO show Girls only added to that growth. More affordable than Williamsburg, and just about as cool, Greenpoint is definitely a great choice neighborhood to live in.
Adding to the coolness of Williamsburg and Greenpoint, Bushwick is growing in all aspects mentioned above, at an extremely fast rate. About five years ago, Bushwick was very looked down upon due to poverty and crime. However, a local government funded revitalization took place to bring more attraction to the neighborhood. It turned out that it worked very well, and not only did the neighborhood rise to becoming one of the most popular neighborhoods, but one of the most in demand neighborhoods in New York City.
Obviously, there are more very good neighborhoods in Brooklyn to move to, including Sheepshead Bay and Park Slope, but this article was based solely on the popularity of these neighborhoods.
