Good News for the Economy

Today affirmed my beliefs that the economy is moving in a positive direction! We had a team meeting at the Keller Williams - Bellevue office where we discussed new technology, how to grow our businesses, but more importantly, that we as a country are heading in the right direction.

How, you might ask?

Patrick Stone, CEO of WFG National Title, was one of the presenters today and spoke about statistics and trends of our current economy. Here are a few of the points he made that give me hope for this year:

  •  Corporate America has refinanced at an incredibly low interest rate (2.77%), Meaning that American corporations have lower debt load, more cash on hand, and can have more sustainable earnings, which leads to stronger buying power all around.
  • We pay less than half on energy than China or Europe and he predicts that the US will become energy exporters within the next few years, which means more jobs and stronger economic position.
  • The US, especially the Greater Seattle Area, is well positioned for the coming years because of our innovation, technology, and education. (Glad I'm right where all the excitement is).

As we're seeing the market heat up, Pat also predicts housing prices will appreciate another 6% or so, which will also serve to bring more balance to the housing market. If you've spoken to your local Realtor recently, they'll tell you how sellers are getting multiple offers and buyers are over-bidding on those properties. More balance would be a welcomed addition to this housing environment.

There were plenty more statistics and facts Pat gave us, but overall it sounds like this year is going to be a great one for real estate and the economy as a whole.

What are your thoughts on the market?
