If you live in Williamson County you have the best odds of being part of the healthiest individuals in the state of Texas. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control recently named Williamson County the healthiest county in Texas.
The study was conducted on a nationwide basis and takes into account many different factors. Access to health care, health behaviors, graduation rates, premature death, low birth-weight babies, single-parent households, violent crime rates, air quality, and access to recreation were among the things looked at. The survey also looked at cancer rates, obesity and smoking to help determine the outcome of the healthiest
Williamson County residents have access to six different hospitals and a vast amount of choices in clinics and medical practices, all of which was taken into consideration when naming Williamson County as number one.
There were also other counties here in Central Texas that came in the top 20. Gillespie County ranked number four, Travis County number six, Hays County number ten, and Burnet County number 20.
The report also listed other things beyond how healthy the county was. Williamson County ranked:

- 5th in the state for morbidity
- 5th in health behaviours
- 2nd in clinical care
- 4th in social and economic factors
- 163rd in physical environment
