1206565000405220794Anonymous_flag_of_the_state_of_Texas.svg.hi.pngA stone’s throw from Williamson County, the big city of Austin beckons. With downtown Austin experiencing endless growth the opportunities to find things to do is unlimited. Following is a list of some of the most popular attractions in Austin.  Use this list to help you explore the wonderful city of Austin.

    Sixth Street
6th Street is the first thing that people think of when the thought of Downtown Austin comes to mind. This long strip of bars, music venues, and restaurants is one of the staples of Austin’s nightlife and is packed Thursday through Sunday nights.

    Congress Bats

Every March, about 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats migrate to Austin and make their home under the Congress Avenue bridge. Bat watching has become a popular tourist attraction. From March until September, generally at dusk, you can watch masses of bats emerge. August is one of the best months to see the bats especially when the nights are hot.

    The Capitol Building

    Visitor's Center: 112 East 11th Street

This incredible building opened in 1888 and to this day remains one the great symbols of Texas history and politics. It is also a major Austin attraction and major tourist spot. It is a favorite part of the Austin skyline, and there are actually building restrictions to keep it easily viewable from all parts of town.

    The Governor’s Mansion

    1010 Colorado Street

Are you interested in seeing the most historic house in Texas?  How about the oldest executive home west of the Mississippi River? In June of 2008, the home was a victim of arson and has since been closed for restoration. Public tours will resume once the rebuilding is complete, but at least you can walk or drive by to enjoy the beauty and history.

Austin is an amazing community to live and work in and it’s easy to see why with all of the great places to visit. Perhaps you are looking for your first home or maybe you are considering building the home of your dreams.
