Leander Independent School District Recognized by Texas Education Agency

Leander Independent School District received a "Recognized" rating for the second year in a row from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The district received the recognition on July 30th at the same time the accountability ratings were released by TEA. TEA ratings rank with "Exemplary" being the highest, "Recognized "as being next, followed by "Academically Acceptable." The TEA ratings are based on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, which is a standardized test that is given to the students each spring.

32 of the 34 rated schools within the Leander Independent School District received ratings of "Recognized" or "Exemplary. " Overall, the district saw an increase from 90% in 2009 to 94% of schools reaching "Recognized "status this year.

Cedar Park and Leander Middle Schools were elevated this year to "Exemplary" status from "Recognized" the year before. Leander High School also noted a jump to "Recognized" status this year from "Academically Acceptable" in 2009.

The biggest jump this year was seen at Henry Middle School which went from "Academically Acceptable" in 2009 to "Exemplary" this year. The Leander Independent School District is working hard to achieve academic excellence and to increase all schools to an "Exemplary" standing.
