I like working on my house and love tools, but thought that this was a good article for those that don't enjoy working on their houses.

  • WIFE vs. ME - Will a half-a$$ed remodel make a difference?

    Dear Trulia Community,

While trying to find topics to talk about in my blog I asked my wife if she had any ideas. She said that I should start blogging about our differences/arguments throughout our Real Estate expierences - so here goes.

This is issue (pun intended) #1.

    Best,

    Scott

We are in the middle ofselling my house (www.trulia.com/property/15718942-90-N-Ridge-St-Rye-Brook-NY-10573) and decided that cleaning the house up would be helpful. The house we own is very old (about 150 yrs) and is in need of some updating. It is a lovely home that we adore, but does need some help. One of the main areas of concern is the kitchen. Lets just say that some of the appliances pre-date Woodstock.

Here comes the discussion/argument/issue - is it worth spending $10,000 on new appliances and a new countertop?

I believe that it is worth it just to get the kitchen out of red-flag terrirtory. My wife feels we won't get it back.

    Thoughts?
If all we can afford to do is new appliances and a countertop, it is worth doing at all?
