The Golden Corridor is a term that I believe Realtors coined to refer to the cities and towns that sit alongside the Dallas North Tollway. Until recently, I've not heard that term being used by anyone but agents. The Tollway serves the purpose of giving us quicker access to the downtown area. It's like the golden egg in the story of Jack and The Beanstalk. Our North Dallas suburbs reach over 40 miles from downtown. Traffic is a huge issue on the minds of Dallasites. The tollway has given us a straight shot, without traffic lights, into downtown for over 30 years. We have shopping malls, sports venues, and great restaurants along the tollway. Where you have great highway access and a myriad of activities, you create value that translates in the minds of the home buyers. You will notice agents touting easy access to the tollway in their marketing text. Dallas, Addison, Plano, Frisco, and Prosper are just a few of the cities and towns that have benefitted from the tollway. As the tollway extends further North, the next towns to get it are primed for the exposure and growth this throughway will likely bring their area. Ever hear of Celina, TX? The tollway will extend into Celina by 2009.
