Who has the money to buy a 4 acre apartment complex, tear it down, & then sit on it for 4 years? Â Answer: Post Properties, Inc. Â from Dallas (eww, Dallas). Â I've driven by the old Southridge apartment tract for years now wondering what the hell they were going to do with it, & when the hell they were going to do it.
Well, it seems the stars have aligned & ground breaking is going to be taking place next month on the 300 apartment unit/8500 sf retail complex called Post South LamarÂ (I confess, when I first heard the name I wondered "does 'Post South Lamar' truly signify the end of South Lamar as I know it?" But I digress...)
I kinda hope they have better luck attracting retail tenants thanÂ The ColeÂ (worst website music ever, by the way)...sure seems like theÂ Spicy PickleÂ is lonely over there, doesn't it? Â And with the news of 300 more apartment units coming on line starting in 2012, I fear for even more traffic on our beloved bumper-to-bumper S Lamar...oh, well, at least we still have S 1st.
