I wanted to voice my support for the Land, Water, and Wildlife Bond Issue that will appear on ballots all over Lewis and Clark County on November 4th. Having made my living for the past 17 years as a REALTOR®, I hold the view that one of my primary responsibilities is to promote private property rights wherever possible. The mechanisms in this Bond Issue will provide funding for alternatives to a sale of productive lands while enhancing the quality of the life we all enjoy in our area. What better method could there be to protect property rights while enhancing our quality of life.
While I cannot speak for the REALTOR® organization, I will quote from the Quality of Life principles we embrace here in Montana.
“REALTORS® recognize the incredible gift that Montana’s natural environment offers to our state’s citizens. Furthermore, we recognize the importance of parks, open space, and the environment to our quality of life and therefore the marketability of surrounding property. To maintain our state’s quality of life, REALTORS® support policies that encourage good stewardship and responsible use of natural resources, as well as appropriate management of our public lands and unique natural environment.”
As a community, if Open Space, Clean Water and Abundant Wildlife are important to us, we should be willing to “put our money where our mouth is!” I would urge you to vote YES on the Land, Water and Wildlife Bond Issue on November 4th.
