So, as I started to explain about surveys to a client recently, he cut me off. He told me how a representative from the utility company had come through his neighborhood and had everyone start tearing down their storage buildings and fences in their backyards because it was on the utility company's easement. When he had built his shop in the back, he had followed his survey exactly and knew he wasn't in the wrong. Apparently, the representative had no idea what he was doing and caused a lot of grief. Because my client had a survey, what would have been an expensive nightmare, turned into a 5 minute conversation.
When you have the knowledge of exactly what is yours and what isn't, it makes what could be complicated, very simple.
