CNN Money’s September 2012 issue has compiled alist of the 100 best small cities to live in the US, so of course I was super curious to see if any of our cities made it on the list. I took a look on their website (http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/best-places/2012/top100/index.html), and was delighted that 3 Florida cities made it on! Even better, 2 of those cities are right next to us! The cities were ranked based on the quality of their schools, affordability of homes, availability of jobs, the community’s diversity, the quality of life (crime and commute time), and the availability of arts and leisure activities.  Below are our 3 best small cities to live in, and the direct links to CNN Money’s statistics on them.
#63: Weston, FL
Weston is 10 minutes west of us, and is relatively a new city. It was established in 1996, and is the most western city in Broward County...the west side of Weston literally borders the Everglades. It’s a beautiful area, full of young families and professional sports players (for those of you interested in that sort of stuff :o)). I also found through some research that it is consistently ranked high in Money Magazine’s “Biggest Earners†in America. At #64 on CNN Money’s list, it’s the best small city in Florida, and one of our favorite cities to work in! Here is the link to CNN Money’s stats on Weston: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/best-places/2012/snapshots/PL1276582.html
#65: Riverview, FL
Riverview is on the west coast of Florida, so I’m not very familiar with it, but I can tell you that the west coast of Florida is beautiful. It’s where us east coast South Floridians go for a quick weekend getaway. The beaches are just gorgeous, and the sunsets are breathtaking. There are also plenty of great golf courses. I believe the west coast is perfect for those who prefer a slower lifestyle. #94: Coral Springs, FL
Coral Springs is about 20 minutes north of us. It was incorporated in 1963 and saw an explosion in population from the 1970s-1990s, so it’s very well established now, but by no means is just for retirees. This is a perfect city to live in if you liked planned communities with aesthetic appeal (there are city codes designed to maintain its beauty). It’s a sprawling city, with very few tall buildings, so it very much has a traditional Florida feel. We actually have an upcoming listing in Coral Springs, and like most homes in the city, it’s absolutely beautiful and very spacious.
