    What is a REO and why do you care?

    The term REO comes from accounting.  It is simply the name of the category used by banks and corporations to show their inventory of properties in their accounting system.  REO stands for "Real Estate Owned".
     
    REO Properites Minneapolis MN Blaine, Coon Rapids, 55434, 55433, 55448, 55449These are homes that have gone through the foreclosure process and are now offered for sale by the bank.  They are generally more obtainable than short sale properties because at this point, you only have to deal with one lender or corporation.  Whereas in a short sale there can be as many as three lenders, the county, the city, the state, or other lien holders that have to all agree on the terms and conditions of the sale.

    You may have also heard the term BPO.  That stands for "Broker Price Opinion".  A BPO is performed by an experienced BPO REALTOR® so that the bank or corporate owner can decide what price to list the home for and to evaluate the condition of the property, suggest repairs, secure the property and sometimes manage the property.

    Many of these homes need some work; some more than others, but they can be a great opportunity for first time home buyers, move up home buyers, and investors.  However, hiring a REALTOR
