Long Beach CA Shelter For Domestic Violence Also Houses Children

Long Beach CA Shelter For Domestic Violence Also Houses ChildrenNewborn babies to teenagers are housed at the shelter with their parent.

One of my favorite community organizations in Long Beach CA is the WomenShelter of Long Beach, which provides shelter and assistance for victims of domestic violence and their families.  What I recently discovered, was that this shelter also houses many children, from newborns to teenagers, and are in need of basic day-to-day supplies and fun stuff too, that kids like to
play with.

Since 1977, WomenShelter of Long Beach has helped thousands of families overcome the trauma caused by domestic abuse. WSLB assists victims and their children by providing safe shelter and supportive services including 30-45 days of emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling, social services support, legal and health advocacy, and much more.

The mission of WSLB is to eliminate domestic violence through compassionate intervention, education and personal empowerment.

The shelter is in continuous need of diapers, baby formula, baby wipes, baby clothes, and other baby-related supplies.  Also, baby toys and other child-related learning tools are appreciated.

And of course, monetary donations are always in demand.

For the women at the shelter, the biggest needs are toiletries, socks, underwear, shampoo, and other articles of clothing.  If you would like to donate or provide much needed supplies, please call Tatiana at 562-437-7233 or email to info@womenshelterlb.org.

Although 99% of the people in the shelter are women, the shelter also provides shelter and assistance for men, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transexuals.
