Description:Â The Â Pieter Claesen Wyckoff House Museum isÂ said to be Â the oldest home in New York City. The house, built around 1652, became the City's first landmark in 1965.Â The original owner WyckoffÂ was a magistrate, successful farmer, and one of Â the wealthiest citizen of New Amersfoot, which later became the town of Flatlands. Wyckoff's descendants lived in the house until 1901.Â Currently Â the site is a property ofÂ New YorkÂ City Â Department of Parks & Recreation, and the house is a museum. The museum features restored period rooms and an herb garden with seasonal plantings. The site offers tours, school programs, free public programs, and has volunteer and internship opportunities. Open November through May, Tuesday â€“ Saturday, 10 am â€“ 4 pm. May through October, Tuesday â€“ Sunday, 10 am â€“ 4 pm. Tours are at 1 pm and 3 pm.Â
