Selling a Home During a New England Winter

As us New Englander's hunker down and prepare ourselves for the wintry chill of the next few months, many home sellers often consider taking their home off the market. However, there can be real benefits for these home sellers who brave the cold and plunging temps by keeping their homes on the market during the winter months.

So, what are some of these benefits. Well, less homes tend to be on the market during the winter months which translates into less competition.  Less competition gives home sellers more opportunity to showcase their property and make their home stand-out from the rest. Holiday decorations can work in the sellers favor as creates the aura of a more cozy and inviting look.

A few tips to help market a home successfully during the winter months:

1) Clear debris from gutters to keep snow and ice at bay

2) Light a fire during an open house

3) Remove fallen leaves before the first snow fall

4) If it does snow, keep entrances and driveway accessible and clear of ice
