Normal Heights was named for the San Diego Normal School, a teacher's college that was the forerunner to San Diego State University. Book ended on the west by University Heights and Kensington on the east, Normal Heights completes the Adams Avenue neighborhood trifecta along the main drag. Crowded, diverse apartment dwellings on the south side of Adams, quiet single-family homes on the north side.

The Adams Avenue Business Association hosts Adams Street Fair, Antique Fair, Holiday on the Avenue, Roots Festival, Arts Around Adams. You will not get bored in Normal Heights.

A Beautiful Day in Normal Heights

Go to Yoga or meditation class at Pilgrimage of the Heart Yoga. If you are lucky, you might be able to meet Mark Kunce there. Have brunch at Antique Row Cafe (3002 Adams Ave) which is an enormously popular place for breakfast.

Pick up some antiques, folk arts, rare records at local shops. There are so many shops you don't want to miss. You might be on the show "Antiques Road Show" someday.

Have a hand-crafted and tasty organic salads, pizza, beer at Blind Lady Ale House, or try spicy vegetarian hood with homemade tofu at Tao (3332 Adams Ave.) You are still dreaming about being on the "Antiques Road Show".

Living in South Park - Virtual Relocation -

South Park is just of Balboa Park, North of Golden Hill and Grant Hill and South of North Park, the boundary being Juniper Street. Historic architects whose work is here include Irving Gill, William S. Hebbard, and Richard Requa. Those Historic Craftsman homes are beautifully restored. Burlingame district, along Balboa Park's eastern boundary, completes the classic Craftsman circle. Burlingame has carefully preserved its historic Craftsman and Mission-style homes, making it ideal for a walking tour.
a Beautiful Day in South Park

Take your dogs to The Grape Street Dog Park, one of San Diego's largest off-leash areas. Later play golf at Balboa Park Golf Course.

After playing golf, check out some art galleries on Beech St. Buy some gifts at The Grove, The Zen Merchant.

Have dinner at The Soth Park Abbey which

creates "everybody knows your name" atmosphere, or go to Vagabondo, their menu is influenced by original traditions from aound globe.
